"I have seen my confidence improve and the tweaks that I’ve started implementing are already showing results on the business accounts."

Keri Mason, 40, completed the Foundation in Social Media Marketing to support her move to freelancing, so she can weave social media into her portfolio of content creation services. She has a dog named Buzz and is looking forward to starting a family.

My name is Keri, I’m 40 and live in Isle of Dogs, London. I currently work part-time as a Theatre Manager and Sound Designer for a small off-West End theatre but have recently started forming my own freelance company Wonderpup Media. I am looking to make the transition to fully freelancing by the end of 2019. Wonderpup Media will offer content creation services through Sound Design and Graphic Design, particularly content for marketing and social media campaigns, and social media marketing services.

I want to go freelance, so I have more flexibility and a better work/life balance as currently, I am pretty much on call 24/7. I have been married for just 2 years and we have a dog named Buzz. We are on the road to adoption (surrogacy) of our first child, who we haven’t met yet but can’t wait to when they arrive in January 2020. This is why I am motivated to get into a flexible working role now rather than later.

I was motivated to join the Foundation in Social Media Marketing course because I was drawn to the flexible working ethos of Digital Mums and since my goal is to have a more flexible working model offering social media marketing and content creation with my company, I felt this course would get me on the right path. I am pretty well versed in social media for my personal accounts, but I wasn’t sure that would translate over to marketing a company or brand using social media.

Since starting the Foundation in Social Media Marketing course, I have seen my confidence improve and the tweaks that I’ve started implementing are already showing results on the business accounts for my new freelance business. I have learned a lot about the strategy side of things which I had no idea was such a large part of social media marketing.

The Digital Mum’s team are very knowledgeable, they make things that can be overwhelming like data or social media etiquette understandable and fun! The learning resources are great, I love the variety of content from downloadable pdfs to the podcasts I can listen to while I’m cleaning, walking Buzz or doing general admin tasks for the house and adoption process.

Don’t hesitate to do the Foundation in Social media Marketing course, you will learn so much and have a great time while doing so!"

Our next cohort for the Foundation in Social Media Marketing will be commencing on the 18th of May 2020. Click to enrol here or try before you buy here or sign up for more info here.

What's NOT new for social media in 2021

Rather than talk about what’s new in the world of social media over the next two months with the inevitable "predictions for social media in 2021" blogs, we want to talk about what’s NOT new. Those unchanging, fundamental principles that underpin social media success. There's no point chasing the new features and functionalities if you haven't got the basics in place.
