In “Ginny and Georgia”, free-spirited Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) flees from her past and worries about her future. Together with her children Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca), she seeks peace and quiet in her newly acquired small-town life, which turns out to be less idyllic than planned. Teenage daughter Ginny is also struggling to come to terms with her new everyday life. The thrilling plot about the turbulent life of the mother-daughter duo made the series a success and season 1 was one of the most-watched Netflix series of 2021. Season 2 followed on directly from this success: The new episodes were streamed for a total of 180.47 hours immediately after their Netflix launch, surpassing even the opening of hits such as “Emily in Paris” season 3, “The Watcher” and “Cobra Kai” season 5 (via Variety).
“Ginny and Georgia”: When is season 3 coming?
Although Netflix has now confirmed season 3 (and 4) of “Ginny and Georgia”, no official start date is yet known. So far, we can only speculate as to when new episodes will be available on Netflix. It usually takes around a year before the sequel starts on the streaming service. According to this schedule, we could theoretically have expected “Ginny and Georgia” season 3 in early 2024.
However, many series were postponed due to the Hollywood strikes and the production of “Ginny and Georgia” was also put on hold. According to the current status, filming has not yet begun. As Georgia actress Brianne Howey became a mother in the summer of 2023 (via Instagram), production of the third season could be delayed for a while yet. After all, it is not unusual for many stars to take a baby break with their newborns and withdraw from the public eye and from filming for a while. At the moment, we probably can’t expect season 3 of “Ginny and Georgia” until 2025.
What could happen in season 3?
Warning: Spoilers for the plot of “Ginny & Georgia” season 2 follow!
Season 2 of “Ginny & Georgia” was also eventful and once again ended with a major cliffhanger. After Ginny had to find out in the past that her mother Georgia is capable of murder, now not only Inspector Cordova (Alex Mallari Jr.) knows it, but also the whole of Wellsbury. Because in the season 2 finale, Georgia is arrested during her wedding reception with Paul for the murder of Cynthia’s husband Tom (Vincent Legault), who was already dying at the time. Against the background of her past, Georgia Miller’s motives for murder are somewhat understandable, but nonetheless punishable and this time her actions have finally become her undoing. So far, she has always been able to manipulate and cunningly maneuver her way out of her problems. Will she get away with it this time too or will Georgia actually end up in prison? How will her arrest affect her relationship with Paul (Scott Porter) and her two children?
This new crisis is sure to exacerbate the difficulties in the mother-daughter relationship between Ginny and Georgia. Son Austin also has a lot to deal with: First the threat to his mother from his violent biological father Gil (Aaron Ashmore) and then the murder of Tom, which he secretly witnessed. Ginny wants to be there for Marcus (Felix Mallard) despite the new separation, but it is unclear how he will deal with the events and his depression. Apart from Georgia’s fate after her arrest, the following questions remain unanswered after the turbulent season finale:
- Who betrayed Georgia to the police?
- Will Austin’s father Gil turn up again?
- Will Ginny and Marcus get back together or remain friends?
- Will Paul hold on to the relationship after Georgia’s arrest?
- Will Joe’s (Raymond Ablack) hidden feelings for Georgia be reciprocated now that she knows who he is?
- Will Maxine (Sara Waisglass) and Sophie (Humberly González) get (back) together or will Max start a relationship with Silver (Katelyn Wells)?

Series creator talks about the future of “Ginny & Georgia”
In an interview with Deadline, “Ginny & Georgia” creator Sarah Lampert spoke about the season 2 cliffhanger and the future of the series. She revealed that she enjoyed having the creative freedom to work on the series and how she likes to surprise viewers:
“[…] I think the idea is that the show will look very different in season 3 […] because this woman who has mastered everything like a superhero has now been caught. It’s almost like Superman has been beaten. It remains to be seen if she can get out of this mess.”
Until we find out, however, we will probably have to wait until the start of “Ginny & Georgia” season 3. If you enjoy watching Netflix series with similarly mysterious, secretive and somewhat unscrupulous protagonists like Georgia Miller, you might also like “Inventing Anna” or “You”.
